Honey, did you turn off the AC?

Woke up to beautiful Lake Tahoe (Jen's number one pick still) and 32 degree temps.  Did the routine; coffee in the Keurig (which is so unbelievable but will touch on that later), eggs (we are out of pancakes), walk the dogs (Jen) and getting ready for our hike (the one we got from the locals).  As usual, Jen made her half of the bed, leaving mine for me (her argument to not making both sides is that she was not on that side of the bed).  Left for our hike and now these are the items we have in the backpack:  Warm clothes, lighter, knife, toilet paper, gloves, water, head lamp.  Still hiking in running sneakers and I forgot my bear stick.  Apparently, the bears are very hungry now and not afraid of people.  I was panning every step for bears like I normally do for snakes and my only saving grace was that I know I am a faster runner then Jen.  A 5 mile hike to 8,000 foot lake in the mountains.  Truly breathtaking and we felt so proud of our accomplishment until about half way down when we passed 3 80+ year old women with full packs hiking up.  Way to deflate us!

Checked bank balance for wire--YEA Jake sold a boat (thank god).  We sent him our hand clapping emojis and headed out of town.   This is where it got tricky; driving the 60+ foot flag up and down the twisty, now guard rail mountains.  Up is scary because the temp keeps climbing and we keep slowing down but I learned how to down shift and solve that issue.  Down is crazy scary because you pick up speed so quickly and the hairpin turns and cliff drop offs scare the crap out of me (anyone that knows me, knows I am deathly afraid of heights also).  Driving down 20 miles with trucks right up my ass and pulling into passing lane to let train pass me.  Jen looks over and says, you are doing really good and I say, thank you but all of a sudden I feel sweat building and I am so nervous that I am sweating profusely.  I reach down to turn up the AC and I find it off.  I say, Honey, did you turn off the AC?  Jen replies, yes, I was a little cold.  I am literally sweating onto the floor, scared to death that each turn ahead is our last.  Anyway, we made it down and headed to Sacremento when we went through an agriculture stop where the agents confiscated all of our apples.

Stopped at Camping world to fill up LP gas because either our gauge does not work, this thing uses so little propane or we are going to run out of heat in the middle of the night.  I laid in bed the other night thinking the heat would shut off at anytime.  Mission accomplished.  Also, picked up some waste hose accessories.  Loved watching the guy talk to Jen about the whole waste disposal process and accessories at the store.  Also, love the amount of space in the store dedicated to waste!

Onto San Fran but running low on diesel.  We got on some causeway that went into a park with no gas to be found.  The good news is we found out the fuel light does work on the rig.   Anyway, fueled up and headed down busy street in San Rafael with Jen navigating using wayz (which is awesome BUT does not take into account for underpasses and we need 13').  I look over and ask Jen when I am turning and see her texting Julian.  I say, what are you doing?  Jen says, Jules texted me.  I say, yea but were are in the middle of a city trying to navigate and you closed wayz and are texting.  Jen says, he is my boy and I am going to text him.  Ok, I will just drive the rig around the block while you text your son.

Did get a few thumbs up and one guy at the gas station said, oh are you military?  I said no, and he said, why is the RV a flag then?  I replied because I am an American, duh.

The Keurig is awesome.  We drive this rig through what seems to be Beirut streets and things fly all over.  That is everything except the Keurig, which sits like a champion on the counter.  Also, being able to have coffee anytime exactly the way I like it.

Got to the campground (RV parking lot) which is super convenient to everywhere we want to visit so that it great.  Then we went and had dinner with my cousin Pamela, who lives in San Rafael.  We had such a great time and loved catching up.  It has been a few years since we have seen each other and it was nice to sit and chat.  Hope to hook up again while we are here.    On the way home from dinner, we were going to stop at a supermarket but I could not find one on yelp which I assume made Jen mad as she asked me when we got home if I was going to walk with her tomorrow morning.  Now for 10 years, I walk with her every morning so I can only assume I did something wrong.  Tried my new plan and just let it boil over and it seemed to work out.

Oh, by the way, while walking to the showers before dinner, got a complement on my toe nails.  Now I know I am in California.

Friday, we pick up Jessee and Alex and are going to Alcatraz where hopefully we will not find any prisoners, "...on the loose" (Jens favorite phrase in movies).  By the way, fun fact, Jen loves prisons which ironic because she would not step foot into the shower facility at the last campground.
