Ok, so Jen realized there is a difference between an RV park
(pull through, 50 Amp power, Water, Sewer, (bar sometimes), gas grills, private
showers, game rooms, paved lots, etc) for a price tag of 50-90 dollars but
super conveniently located to attractions.
More or less a hotel you are driving and parking. You get in, drop your stabilizers, roll the
sides out, hook up water, electricity, sewer and unhook your car and you have a
house with everything you want at your beck and call….OR a campground with
beautiful surroundings, a great view, no water, electricity, bathrooms like a
prison, but campfire material. I can’t
believe it took her 2 weeks to figure out but today she did when we hit Lake Tahoe
and stopped to do our walk on our way to NAPA.
More to come on this event later in blog. She loved the town so much (she wants to move
here now and it is her #1 favorite place-sorry Madison, WI). Anyway, we parked at a field facility where a
bunch of fireman were playing Frisbee football or whatever you call that game
with our dogs laying on the back of the couch watching and barking; we locked
the RV and went for our walk. On our
walk, we saw how beautiful Lake Tahoe was and decided to stop by a campground
on the lake and try and stay the night. We
finished our 7 mile hike and got a site (A Pull through, which is a big thing)
and got settled. We left and had a great
lunch at a local brewery and I had 2 IPA beers that were great. Here is the best part; we MADE FRIENDS with the 2 guys next to us
and they told us all about Tahoe. They
told us good hikes, where to go, a real estate agent for Jen, skiing prices, where
to buy pot, and a ton more. John and Cap
were great and we now had a plan. We
headed to a hike at Emerald Bay that Jessee told us about and the road up there
was awesome and so scenic it was like pretty tree season or large snow pile
season to OCD. We had a great hike and
figured out another one for the morning before we leave for San Fran. Came home and got the jeep washed at one of
those places you power wash and scrub with quarters because it does not fit
into car washes with big tires and lights.
I now remember why I hate those places.
You are working like a fiend to try and wash, brush and rinse in the
time limit you get and it is never enough time.
Anyway, I had to get the diesel fuel off the jeep from this trip. Mission accomplished! Back to RV and plan our trip to San Fran to
see Alcatraz, Napa, Big Red Trees, Pam and whatever else is there, all while
coordinating with Jessee and Alex who are meeting us. Jen wanted to have a fire but I Knew this
would pass as soon as temp dropped to 40 degrees.
NOW the funny part. I
went to take a shower and Jen said she would take one in the RV (remember I
fixed it). The minute I got the shower I
realized Jen would never do this. It was
like a prison shower with cement floors, screens on windows to keep bugs from
coming in, cold, etc (a state campground).
I, of course, sucked it up with my painted toe nails and came back to
find Jen buck naked telling me the shower was broken. When a guy comes home and finds his lady buck
naked you would think the story would go differently but it did not. Apparently, she went to the bathroom and
walked in another lady buck naked thinking she would just take a shower
there. She immediately looked around and
came back to RV. I asked if the other
girl was good looking and she said she did not even look. Anyway, I fixed shower and found out that the
hot water heater was not on. You see,
with only 30 amp (campground power) you can’t have everything on. So, I fired the generator up (it started,
yea!) and all problems solved. We will
only be staying at RV parks from now on.
Sorry to Jesee and Alex, we will be roasting our marshmallows on a
grill.
Back to beginning of day.
Lupe is definitely smarter then Dora.
I will say, Lupe, “lets get up” and she stands and gets up and seems to
understand what I am saying. Dora relies
completely on her looks (although she has flawless-perfect bone structure). Ok, so we had a fight with Fed Ex on the way
here. We dropped off some documents (I know
you all saw the pictures) at a Fed Ex to be delivered to the marina today. The box said pickup has not occurred and pick
up will be at 3 pm today. Anyone that
knows fed ex understands that means when you send something overnight it will
be there the next day. Well, no go. No trace of tracking number and the phone
calls start, “…representative, representative, REPRESENTATIVE…” Well we have
come to find out that Fed Ex in the mid west works differently and hopefully
package will get there tomorrow. I am
not giving this fight with Fed Ex the attention it needs but I do not want to
make this blog too long.
Now for the fight. I
was walking with Jen this morning and we saw a place to get married (a quick chapel?). She said, oh we should get married again and
I said ok. She said, I do not have anything
to wear and I replied, I actually do because I packed like a “girl” and have everything
in my arsenal. Not another word about this until our hike up
out of the Emerald cove when I said to Jen, everything ok? And she replied, no you are a dick and I would
never marry you again if you were the last person in the world. I said, WTF and tried to joke my way out and
say, honey we are already married (twice) but no luck. Anyway, she immediately apologized and we are
good now (I hope).
Saw the coolest thing (recommendation from John and
Cap). Salmon swimming up stream to where
they were born- by smell- to lay eggs and die.
So sad but so freaking cool to see.
Oh, we talked to abby today and she did such a great job on her
interview, I was so proud. Julian was
too busy to talk to us and we did talk to KK yesterday.
The Nevada state line had casinos within 1 inch of the
border to CA. It is crazy. I did find out you can do recreational pot In
Nevada and CA will adopt in 1 month.
Always my story, day early dollar short.
Oh, we are going to dinner in Tahoe and Jen wants to do a Paint and Sip,
which is a painting thing and sipping wine.
I said I was in but I want to find a paint and DRINK because I do not
sip anything (except scotch with my boys at Thanksgiving).
Finally, had steak and eggs for breakfast and they were awesome. Sorry for the backward blog, but the shower stuff
was fresh in my mind.
Oh, the pinecones here are humungous!
(SIDE NOTE) I have toned down the X rated parts of this blog because I heard that Aunt Mary was now reading so I am thinking about posting a bonus blog UNCENSORED
Negotiated a B+ for last nights performance. Not too bad when your drinking strong IPA's
John, if you want to tour Alcatraz call immediately. Tickets must be obtained days earlier. Emerald Bay is beautiful, some of my best pictures looking down on the island where the Rat Pack partied. Grant
ReplyDeleteYes, we loved Emerald Bay!
